Between faith, folklore, and old wisdom, Bosnia is full of fascinating traditions that still live today.
In many villages and even cities, old beliefs coexist with modern life. For example, people still tie red threads around babies’ wrists to protect them from the “evil eye.” Spilled water before a trip is considered good luck, while whistling at night is said to attract bad spirits.
Dreams, too, are seen as messages – if you dream of teeth falling out, someone close might be in trouble. Crows near the house? Someone’s coming. Sneezing once means someone’s talking about you, twice means a surprise is coming.
While younger generations may take these with a grain of salt, many of these superstitions are passed down like family heirlooms – not as rules, but as cultural flavor. They make Bosnia feel like a place where stories are always alive, just beneath the surface.
